Since someone is always playing on Thursdays, Kevin and I were kicking around an idea for a non-historical campaign based on the FOW campaign set.

Thoughts?

I'll have a sign-up sheet at the store on Thursday.  We could discuss details then.  If we use the Battlefront campaign game as a guide we're looking at a 4 to six turn campaign.

I'll be there.  Would each turn be a week?

I will be running my motorized Hungarian Infantry company for the campaign, and will be in on Thursday to see if it needs tweaking...

Ill swing by on Thursday, but may be late.  If that is the case I want to come by to talk shop about the campaign even if I can't get a game in.

I will either run my FJ, panzergrens, or panzerkompanie.

Kevin, I missed the sign-up sheet. Any chance of getting into that campaign. I think I've got my schedule ironed out to get back to regular Thursdays. I'll be there on the 11th, just to make sure.

So we had a pretty good meeting last night, and at least got the sides and armies being played. Also determined next would be as good a date to start as any, and earlier was better to keep the momentum going.

Axis:
2 German Armor companies, 1 German company TBD, 1 Hungarian Motorized Infantry company.

Allies : British Armor Company, American paratrooper company, Russian Infantry battalion, and 1 armored infantry American Company (I think)

I beleive Kevin is going to post on the Flames of War website, to see if there is any interest, and also on the Chicago-land FOW yahoo page. If I have overlooked anything, I apologize.I haven't had my coffee yet.

With starting this Thurs, is it necessary to do some pre-planning?  Given that I'm not familiar with the campaign set, exactly how much planning goes into the match-ups and what kind of narrative do we have.  I'm also not sure how much co-ordination we should be doing amongst our respective teams.  I thought we could either have it happen over email or, perhaps better, set up an axis thread and an allies thread (how much faith does everyone put in the honor system?).  It might be nice for spectators to see what each side is up to and will keep the activity up on the store's forums, which is never a bad thing.  Is that even necessary?  If we determined team captains, I wasn't paying attention.  If we haven't that's something we could work out ahead of time.

How did things end up last night?  Did the Germans succeed in completely throwing back the Russians?

While we are waiting for updates, do any of the nasty allies want to call out any of the heroes of the Axis?

The end results were pretty much 50/50.

Scott (Hungarian Motor Company) vs Jason (US Para Company) - Axis win
Aaron (Panzerkompanie) vs Kevin (Soviet Motor Company) - Axis win
Johnny (Panzerkompanie) vs Kevin (Soviet Motor Company) - Allied win
Tim (SS Panzerkompanie) vs Chris (British Armored Company) - Allied win

I am not sure what the best way to update the map would be, perhaps we can figure out something online.  Does anyone have a digital version of the map (or is aware of one online?)

NOTE TO AXIS PLAYERS:  email me at ahschmidt AT gmail DOT com so I can have your email addy for some briefing, and army-list banter.

Question...

Can we switch Companies between battles?
